Autumn Marketing Ideas for Wedding Venues
Autumn is often a quieter time for wedding venues, but that doesn’t mean your marketing should go quiet. In fact, this is the time to really double down on booking those key dates for the year ahead and remind couples who may be on the fence exactly why you’re the venue for them.
With fewer weddings taking place, your team may have a little more capacity to look ahead, nurture supplier relationships and create a clear plan for the next few months. It’s also a brilliant season for content, with beautiful colours, atmospheric light and plenty of opportunities to show a different side of your venue.
Here are a few ideas for both offline and online marketing you can do during the autumn months.
Keep your social media consistent and seasonal
We all love leaning into autumn colours, so make the most of them by sharing weddings that really embraced those seasonal hues. Think rich florals, candlelight, autumnal styling and photographs taken against golden trees.
Choose weddings that included a good team of suppliers and invite them to collaborate on your posts. Photographers, stylists, florists and other suppliers are more likely to accept collaboration requests when their work is clearly featured. This can significantly increase the reach of your content and introduce your venue to new, relevant audiences.
You can also use this time to highlight the very best of your venue in autumn. Do you have trees that turn golden? Is there a particular spot for photographs that looks especially beautiful in the evening light? Does your indoor ceremony space feel wonderfully cosy when the weather turns?
Couples need to be able to imagine what their wedding could look and feel like at your venue, whatever the season. Don’t only share bright summer weddings if you also want to secure autumn and winter bookings.
Plan next year’s events and get them in the diary
So often, venues squeeze in an open day at the last minute and are then disappointed when they don’t get the footfall they were hoping for.
By planning these events well ahead, getting in touch with suppliers now and creating some hype around them, you’re much more likely to increase visits. Confirm your dates, decide on the format and think about what will make each event useful and enjoyable for couples.
Once the date is booked, you can build a proper marketing campaign around it rather than relying on a few social media posts in the week before. Add the event to your website, begin collecting registrations, include it in your emails and give your attending suppliers plenty of time to promote it to their audiences too.
Plan your Black Friday offers – if you want to run them
Black Friday is by no means compulsory. You do not need to join in simply because everyone else appears to be doing it. But if you are going to run an offer, make sure you plan it properly and focus on giving away additional value rather than automatically lowering your prices.
You could include an upgrade, an additional room, a longer hire period or something that makes the experience feel more special without undermining the value of your venue.
You could even link up with a supplier who is often booked alongside you. A stylist or DJ can be a great option for this. Together, you can create an offer that feels genuinely valuable to couples while sharing the promotion across both of your audiences. Again, this gives you higher reach and therefore more chance of securing bookings.
Connect with your suppliers
Think about hosting a networking evening at your venue for your recommended suppliers. It’s a lovely way to thank them for supporting your venue and cement those relationships further.
Your suppliers speak to engaged couples every week, so maintaining strong relationships with them can lead to more recommendations. It also gives you an opportunity to discuss future events, collaborative content, styled shoots and other ways you can support one another.
