How Strategic, Consistent Marketing Transformed a 25-Year-Old Heritage Attraction

This heritage attraction has been welcoming visitors for more than 25 years. With beautiful gardens, three retail outlets, a welcoming café and a collection of holiday cottages, it holds a strong sense of place and a loyal local following. Like many family-run destinations, it had always handled marketing informally and without a clear structure. Most tasks were shared between team members who already had full workloads, which meant marketing was often reactive and inconsistent.

They knew they could be reaching more visitors, but they needed direction, strategy and someone who could take ownership of their digital presence with confidence.

They invested in my monthly support package at £995 per month for 30 hours of dedicated marketing.

What followed was a complete shift in consistency, visibility and results.

Creating Structure and Clarity in Their Marketing

The first step was bringing calm, clarity and intention to every channel. I took responsibility for their four Instagram accounts, which allowed the business to move away from posting on impulse and into a rhythm that reflected the beauty and variety of the attraction.

Daily posts across these accounts, supported by regular TikTok content, helped create a steady presence that had been missing. The tone became clearer, the visuals more consistent and the messaging more aligned with the audience they wanted to reach.

Alongside social media, I also wrote and managed their email marketing, created press releases and supported the events team with all marketing activity. For a business without a dedicated marketing department, this level of structure made an immediate difference.

Over time, the attraction began to feel more visible, more organised and more prepared.

The Results: A Clear Shift in Visibility and Growth

The impact of giving the marketing consistent, strategic attention became evident very quickly.

One quiet-season weekend saw visitor numbers increase by more than 400 percent. Events, which had historically fluctuated in attendance, began to sell out every time. This was not due to dramatic change, but simply the result of showing up consistently, communicating clearly and getting the right information in front of the right people.

Their Instagram followers grew by five percent, but what mattered even more was the change in who was following them. The audience shifted from a lower-spend demographic to young professionals aged 25 to 34 who have an existing interest in culture, heritage and the outdoors. These are the visitors who are more likely to book events and spend time exploring everything the attraction offers.

Engagement also grew significantly. Monthly interactions on one account increased tenfold during the contract, and Facebook visibility rose sharply. Average monthly Facebook views increased more than five times, largely due to simple structural improvements such as ensuring every event was properly listed on the platform.

Press Coverage and Wider Reach

With press releases and ongoing communication, the attraction began to receive more media attention. They were featured in local magazines and newspapers, and also appeared in national titles including The Guardian, Country Living, Homes and Gardens Magazine, The English Garden Magazine and Your Dog Magazine.

This external visibility supported everything happening on social media and reinforced the attraction’s position within the heritage and tourism landscape.

What This Project Shows

This case study is a clear example of what happens when marketing becomes consistent and intentional. You do not need dramatic reinventions to see results. You need structure, strategy and someone who can hold the marketing with care.

For a business that had always relied on intuition and habit, investing in 30 hours of planned, strategic marketing each month created tangible, measurable change, both online and offline.

It is a reminder that storytelling works. Clarity works. Consistency works. When they come together, the results are powerful.
